What we publish

Base Oil Trade covers the physical and paper markets for base oil, fuel oil and refined products, alongside the commodity trading, brokerage, shipping and logistics activity that surrounds them. Our readers are traders, brokers, charterers, refiners, blenders, bunker suppliers, terminal operators and the analysts and financiers who work with them.

Every article is built around verifiable, attributable source material: operator statements, regulatory notices, exchange and terminal announcements, and reporting from established trade press. We publish what can be substantiated and cite where it came from.

How our newsroom works

The desk monitors a curated list of industry feeds around the clock. Qualifying stories are checked against the original source, summarised in original language, reviewed against our editorial standards, and published with a link back to the primary reporting. Editorial automation assists with monitoring and drafting; humans set the standards and hold responsibility for what appears.

Editorial stance

We report constructively. Coverage focuses on operational, commercial and technological developments — capacity, trade flows, infrastructure, regulation, efficiency and decarbonisation — rather than speculation about individuals or unverified allegations. We do not publish defamatory material, rumour presented as fact, or claims we cannot trace to a named source.
