Base Oil Trade uses automated tooling to monitor approved industry feeds, detect new developments, remove duplicates and draft original summaries of verified source material. Automation supports the newsroom; it does not replace editorial judgement.

Rules the generation pipeline must follow

Drafting is constrained by hard editorial rules.

• Facts may only come from the cited source; nothing may be added that the source does not support.
• No invented quotations, statistics, people, companies or citations.
• Source sentence structure may not be reproduced; near-duplicate output is rejected.
• Stories with defamation risk, allegations or unverifiable sourcing are blocked from automatic publication.
• No article is created merely to satisfy a publishing target.

Human oversight

Editors can require approval before anything is published, and every automated article keeps an internal provenance record: original source, URL, headline, source timestamp, retrieval time, generation time, model identifier, verification status and approval status.

We never state that content has been independently verified when it has only been checked against the source material.

Images

Where licensing permits, we use the original source image with attribution. Where it does not, we use an approved asset or a clearly illustrative generated image. Illustrative imagery is never presented as documentary evidence of a specific event.
