Alkagesta Asia Establishes Strong Singapore Presence
Alkagesta Asia, established in late 2024, has rapidly developed its marine fuel distribution operations in Singapore, achieving significant monthly volumes supported by robust financial and operational infrastructure.

Alkagesta Asia Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the global energy group Alkagesta, has rapidly expanded its marine fuel distribution operations in Singapore since its establishment in late 2024. The company now reports monthly volumes of approximately 200,000 metric tonnes, supported by a $1.2 billion liquidity platform at the group level.
This expansion into Singapore, a key global bunkering hub, was a strategic move to strengthen Alkagesta's execution capabilities in critical energy and marine fuel locations. The Singapore entity operates under the same rigorous governance and operational standards applied across the Group's global platform, which includes hubs in Malta, London, Dubai, and Geneva.
Mithat Ciftcioglu, Marine Distribution Director at Alkagesta Singapore, highlighted the importance of physical infrastructure in their strategy. Securing storage capacity at Horizon Terminal by mid-2025 allowed Alkagesta Asia to directly manage the handling and distribution of marine fuels, ensuring control over quality, inventory, and delivery timing within the competitive market.
Following the establishment of physical infrastructure, Alkagesta Asia introduced Low Sulphur Marine Gas Oil (LSMGO) in November 2025. Initial LSMGO volumes ranged from 20,000 to 30,000 metric tonnes per month. By January 2026, total monthly bunker sales reached approximately 200,000 metric tonnes, comprising roughly 160,000-170,000 metric tonnes of Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO), 20,000-30,000 metric tonnes of LSMGO, and the remainder as High Sulphur Fuel Oil (HSFO).
Financial discipline underpins Alkagesta Asia's growth. The company established a trade finance facility with ING Singapore to provide necessary liquidity. At the Group level, Alkagesta maintains relationships with 28 international banks, securing commodity trade finance facilities exceeding USD 1.2 billion. This global financial framework supports regional operations, ensuring stability and continuity of supply.
Governance and compliance are consistently applied across all Alkagesta operations, including Singapore. This encompasses structured investigation processes, sanctions compliance procedures, and uniform risk management frameworks. Every transaction adheres to international regulatory requirements, with full transparency and documentation.
The regional bunker market remains dynamic, influenced by geopolitical developments, shipping route disruptions, and evolving trade patterns. Singapore continues to play a central role in the global bunkering system, with annual marine fuel sales reaching approximately 56.8 million metric tonnes in 2025. Alkagesta Asia monitors these factors to maintain reliable execution.
Looking ahead, Alkagesta Asia is also preparing for the industry's transition towards lower-carbon marine fuels. The company plans for the introduction of biofuel flows as part of its long-term strategy, aligning with the Group’s broader sustainable fuels roadmap. This approach prioritises compliance, traceability, and operational readiness for future fuel solutions.
