Asyad Shipping Divests Older Tankers
Oman's Asyad Shipping has initiated a fleet modernisation programme through the sale of three older vessels.

Asyad Shipping, based in Oman, has commenced a strategic fleet renewal initiative. The company has agreed to divest three of its older tankers, aligning with its broader plan to integrate newbuilding vessels into its operational fleet.
The transactions involve two Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), the 2011-built Seeb and Samail. These vessels were sold for a combined OMR61.7 million, equivalent to approximately $160.5 million.
Additionally, a third vessel, the 2009-built Medium Range (MR) tanker Sohar, was part of this divestment. This sale was concluded for OMR6.74 million, approximately $17.5 million.
The total value generated from the sale of these three tankers reached OMR68.44 million, which translates to about $178 million.
This move supports Asyad Shipping's ongoing efforts to update its fleet composition. The company is actively pursuing the introduction of new vessels, indicating a focus on enhancing its operational capabilities and fleet efficiency.
